For struggling readers, the teacher can work with a small group of students and read the boxes aloud. ![]() Next, students will individually complete the "Characters, Setting, and Plot" worksheet. Continue with identifying parts of the plot and sharing student ideas. Have a few pairs share what they came up with. Next, have the kids "think, pair, share" with a neighbor and discuss the characters in the story. Introduce the story "Knuffle Bunny A Cautionary Tale" by Mo Willems and tell students that the purpose of either watching or reading the story is to identify the characters, the setting, and parts of the plot in order. To begin, activate students background knowledge about retelling stories and identifying characters, setting, and plot points. ![]()
